At Isometric Micro Molding, precision is central to everything we do. It’s vital, then, that we use our in-house, high-resolution, CT scanning capability to validate that the design intent is always achieved.

Through CT scanning, we can detect deviations in the actual molded or assembled part against the original 3D CAD design data at the micron level in all axes. In addition, CT scanning assists with Metrology and Gage R&R. These systems are perhaps the most challenging aspects of micro molding, where it is common to have more error in the measurement than in the actual parts.

With our in-house CT scanning we can:

  • Obtain timely, accurate metrology data
  • View a full CAD model of the part in less than 20 minutes, ideal in giving Process Engineers critical feedback
  • Create a point cloud file that provides a visible, explorable 3D representation of the physical molded part
    •  3D point cloud is compared visually to the CAD solid mold
    • Demonstrates accuracy to the original design through a color deviation plot
    • MRI-like quality images that look through the part that show internal wall thickness views of parts, assemblies
  • Receive vital “assembly bonding layer” data
    • Detects defects such as bubbles, voids, improper bonding material distribution
  • Creates life-long part retains that will not change over time; a true comparison of parts year over year.
